We've done this a lot! And over the years, we've learned plenty of best practices/habits that keep Corti's draft accurate, so review time goes on the plan, not on filling gaps.
Before we get started, we're big believers that the patient comes first (and second and third and fourth...). It probably goes without saying, but speak for the patient, not the AI. Good consultation habits are what make the note accurate.
1. Verbalise everything
Corti only sees the transcript. It does not record body language, pointing or tone of voice. If a patient's answer is unclear, mumbled or only partly audible, repeat it back in your own words and confirm before you move on.
2. Add what wasn't said
Anything not verbalised needs a manual note. This includes a gesture, an examination finding, or a result you read rather than say aloud. Add it before, during or after the consultation. It carries the same weight as anything spoken.
3. Position the microphone
Use a microphone you can move, not a fixed dictation mic on a stand. In face-to-face consultations, place it at roughly equal distance between you and the patient. Facing away from it muffles your voice, though side-on is usually fine.
4. Set up virtual consultations
On telephone and video calls, run the same three checks every time before you rely on the recording. Corti can only hear what your call software shares with it.
