Best Practices of AI Chat

AI chat tools have become increasingly popular for various tasks, from answering questions to assisting with writing and problem-solving. Corti's AI Chat serves to help you get the most from every consultation.

Common uses include - Finding information from the transcript, updating note formatting, and answering questions raised during the visit.

This guide will help you get started with using an AI chat tool effectively.

1. Using the Corti AI Chat Tool

Corti AI Chat will be available after you have ended a consultation. Once you are in the documentation screen, it will be on the right side below the 'copy documentation' and 'new session' icons.

2. Understand the Capabilities and Limitations

AI Chat is a powerful tool, but it works best when you understand what it can and cannot do.

What it can do:

  • Access the transcript, extracted facts, and any open document from your current session

  • Identify and return information from the transcript that was not included in the generated document — simply ask it directly

  • Add information to sections that already exist in a generated document

What it cannot do:

  • Create entirely new sections that are not part of the document's template

  • Access real-time internet or external databases

  • Draw on personal experience or clinical judgement

Where your judgement is still required:

  • AI Chat can contain errors. Always fact-check critical details before making clinical decisions, and treat its responses as a starting point rather than a final authority. If something looks incorrect, verify it against the original transcript or your own clinical knowledge.

3. Start a Conversation

  • Open Corti AI Chat

  • Type your question or prompt in the chat box.

  • Be clear and specific in your requests.

4. Frame Your Questions Effectively

  • Use clear, concise language.

  • Provide context when necessary.

  • Break complex questions into smaller parts.

Example: Instead of: "Tell me the history." Try: "Can you give me a brief overview of the patient's medical history?"

5. Iterate and Refine

  • If the initial response isn't satisfactory, ask follow-up questions.

  • Request clarifications or additional details as needed.

  • Use the AI's response as a starting point for further exploration.

6. Experiment with Different Tasks

AI Chat is designed to support a range of clinical workflow tasks, including:

  • Editing clinical notes based on specific requests

  • Answering factual questions about the consultation

  • Finding quotes or references from the transcript

  • Generating or completing medical coding, including ICD-10, CPT, and SNOMED codes

  • Summarising or reformulating information for referral letters or patient summaries

  • Translating text into different languages

The more specific your request, the more accurate and useful the response will be.

Example:

8. Protect Your Privacy

  • Avoid sharing sensitive personal information.

  • Be aware that your conversations may be stored or used for improving the AI.

9. Provide Feedback

  • You have the option to provide feedback on responses in the bottom center of the screen.

  • This helps improve the AI's performance over time.

10. Stay Updated

  • AI technology is rapidly evolving.

  • Keep an eye out for new features and improvements.

By following these guidelines, you'll be well on your way to effectively using Corti's AI chat tool for a wide range of tasks and queries. Remember, the key is to approach the AI as a helpful assistant rather than an infallible expert.

Coming soon! AI Chat will be accessible during your consultation!
